Despite a request for the DOL to grant an extension of the deadline to e-file 5500 forms, the DOL has announced that there will be no blanket extension for 5500 filings. You should also be aware that 2009 calendar year plans are due August 2 (since July 31 falls on a weekend). Furthermore, if you do need an extension, the Form 5558 will need to be submitted in paper form.
